This week, we will practice audience awareness by introducing ourselves to two different audiences (read Strategies for Tech Comm pp. 52-62 regarding audience). In addition, we will read and utilize the concepts in Strategies for Tech Comm (STC) pp. 365-371 to become literate in the genre of email and practice the digital conventions of writing formal email messages.

This week you will work with your classmates to develop your ideas for the formal report (and the proposal for that report). To prepare, you will need to read STC pp. 343-346.

Week Three

This week, we will focus on finding reliable research that is credible to our audience to both establish our problem and identify a solution in our formal report. To prepare for this week, read STC Chapter 3 (pp. 32-50) and Section A (pp. 426-434).

Week Four

We will focus on writing a proposal for a research project that will persuade the professor that you have identified a clear problem, have the expertise to research that problem, have a clear plan for completing your project, and have completed most if not all secondary research for the project.

Week Five

Read STC Section A (pp. 426-432) before completing this exercise. You will focus on providing clear, concise, and accurate summaries, paraphrases, and quotations in preparation for fully documenting your sources and avoiding plagiarism in your formal report. Review this video for an overview of quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing.

Week Six

Read STC pp. 295-297 before completing this activity. This week, you will continue to work on your research, completing your research and writing a progress report that indicates which of the steps in your "Scope of Proposed Study" section from the proposal you have completed and which remain to be completed.

Week Seven

Read STC pp. 92-95 on paragraphs and review pp. 323, and 330-333 before beginning this activity. This week, you will work on composing the body of the formal report, including a review of how to compose unified and coherent paragraphs.

Read STC pp. 286 (Executive Summaries) and review pp. 322- 337 before writing your front and back matter.

Read the section on peer review reports in STC (pp. 310-311) and complete and submit your peer review, practicing the concepts that we have covered in the class up to this point to help a particular audience (your peer) see where they can improve their final report in order to submit a clean copy for the final Webfolio.

Read the section on working collaboratively in STC (pp. 20-26). You will work in groups to create your action plan for the Resource Recommendation project and will submit your action plan to Dr. Harris
